hare under the falling leaves

i am always wishing to see woodland animals.
although i live in edge of woodland i do not often see animals, except birds and squirrels, it is truly a gift to see other animals. maybe by creating these jewelries and wearing them will enchant the animals to come more in my view.
"hare under the falling leaves" necklace is something i just listed on my etsy shop. autumn is full of inspiration and i enjoy so muchto create these autumn jewelries.

Deer's are here again

It is the time of the year when the farmer's have been gathering away the crop and deer's come in to the fields to eat. few days ago the deer's appeared in the nearby field. i have been looking from the balcony windows, wishing to see the deer's. i was just saying to my sister that why can't i see the deer's when i saw them from the window.

two deer babies and their mother, i am afraid that something has happened to the mail deer, since it is hunting season in here. hopefully not. before i saw the deer's yesterday i begun to create deer jewelries, which i have wanted to make such a long time. i have been trying to find a vintage photograph which i could use on my jewelries, and i found one.
i will list new autumn jewelries tomorrow on my Etsy.

following the moss path

it is very strange how life leads us to do different things...
last week i found myself writing an e-mail to Arboretum where i visited few weeks ago. i asked if they would accept me as an apprentice and would they have a place for me to stay on that time. i thought that i would not hear from them, but then received an e-mail few days later, where they responded YES. I have been excited and nervous at the same time ever since that e-mail. Today i went to the Arboretum made sure that they would truly want me there. i was so excited after the visit, that i forgot to look the place where i would be living, but i heard that the apartment will be warm ( a good thing!). i know also that my apartment will be in end of a old red and white wooden house. i need to take there some things and furniture's, make a little home for me for a little while. I will be moving in the Arboretum for a month in 19th of September.
And what i do there: collect seeds from trees and plants in the forest, sow the seeds and plant trees perhaps, there is possibly will be something else to do also, but these tasks are perfect to me!!
I did not even thought to get apprentice place in this autumn or from this Arboretum, but something just made me send that e-mail...

when i visited in the arboretum first time, i thought that how wonderful it would be to walk in that forest everyday. now i am able to do that, at least for a while. wander in a autumn forest there. i am sure i will write a lot when i am there, since i will take my computer with me; take you for a little wanderings with me.

autumn jewelries

truly the autumn begun here 1st of august, just like that weather changed from warm to chilly. there has been some warm days between, but i can see how the tree leaves are becoming yellow and ferns also. i truly love the colors of ferns in autumn, one of my favorite plants. they are one of the things which always make me sigh when i see them.

now it is a perfect time to make jewelries for autumn wanderings. brass maple, oak and willow leaves are waiting on my table. glass and picasso beads in shades of soft golden yellow, burned orange and brown. squirrels have already become part of my necklaces, which i am just listing in my Etsy shop. i have also made a special necklace, which features a locket with image from Beatrix Potter's 'Squirrel Nutkin' book, a wise owl. these images have been waiting on my paper drawers for few years, yesterday i thought i should try to use them on my woodland jewelries, because i so much love books of Beatrix's. i was very lucky to able to see some original paintings from 'Squirrel Nutkin' while i was in Hawkshead in England. they truly where more beautiful than in any printed story books written by Beatrix.

p.s. i will create jewelry piece for Pixie. Could you kindly send your address for me, thank you.

pine needle path

i have wanted to travel in this place long time.
today me, my mother and three sisters wandered in this arboretum, which is filled with all kind of trees and plants. trees all over the world.

It was a 3km path which we walked and beginning of the woodland path where these lovely cottages, where people lived amongst the woodland.

beautiful autumn Phlox's in a yard.

and the loveliest cottages was this. i think it was empty.
how wonderful it would be to live in this cottage,
wander between the different trees when ever i would want to.

Abies amabilis, amabilis means lovable in Latin.
and these trees where truly lovable.

Garden videos

i have been wondering should i begin a garden blog and let this blog to be just for my woodland wanderings, jewelries and other adventures... i have not made my mind yet. but while i am thinking i wanted to post you few videos from my favorite garden program 'Life In Cottage Garden' and one video from Tasha Tudor's garden. Unfortunately the Life in a cottage garden videos have been deleted, i wish BBC would make a DVD of this series.

midsummer forest

here i have picked some beautiful wildflowers for a bouquet.

often many moments in nature feels like i would walk in a poem. the summer light is so very magical during the dawn and twilight, also in middle of a day when the sun is flickering behind the trees.
i have been capturing flowers and butterflies with my camera lately and today i took few photographs of myself in the forest (sometimes if i take photographs of myself i feel bit vain...).

in the fern forest, which is one of my favorite places. there is so many fern varieties growing, some almost tall as i am. the scent is wonderful also. i have to admit that my most favorite plant in the forest are ferns, i do not wonder why people in Victorian era where so obsessed about them! next time when i will visit the nearest town i will purchase big blank journal, which will be my "book of ferns".

the most beautiful violets i have ever seen, i think. i sowed the seeds in winter time and this month they have truly begin to grow and i do love them so much! violets truly one of my favorite flowers...

i always wear wellingtons in woodlands, you never know what hides behind the blueberry bushes and amongst the moss.

lupins and breathtakingly beautiful orange lilies.
i think they look absolutely beautiful together.

hedgehog in the bluebell woods

hello, i have been very silent in here and there is a good reason for it: i have been studying plants and conifer trees in Finnish and Latin. we had a whole day of exams on thursday and got results on friday, i got 146 points of 150 in botanical test, i am so proud of myself! i have honestly always felt bit bad in school when i was younger because i was not an A student. Although we have a over month "holiday" inn school, it is actually filled with reading again. i need to memorize another botanical list.

i have been also very busy tending my parents large garden, so much to do and i do love even taking of the weeds. now i wait with an excitement what will come of the flowers seeds and perennial plants i sowed and planted on the new part of the "cottage garden". i did not made the flower beds properly and there is lots of weeds growing, but i do not mind if i will eventually see some flowers in the flower patches also. there is also a potager in the making.

finally yesterday the rain came after waiting a proper rain weeks and weeks. and it was a perfect day to receive a parcel from Julie; after i came back from England i wanted to order another teacup from Julie with bluebells, Julie asked if i wanted a hedgehog wandering through the bluebell woodland and surely i did! Julie was so kind that she sent me also vintage Peter Rabbit's Diary, i did not even know that such thing existed. It is filled with pages i could write in to and some paintings which are new to me. I love the little diary, thank you Julie!!

Almost all the things i bought from England where filled with images of Peter Rabbit and other Beatrix Potter paintings. I just could not resist... I would want to have all books written about Beatrix and all the story books which she have written, have a little library filled with books about her. She just inspires me so very much and her stories makes me happy!

squirrel medallion to decorate my studio.

page inside of Peter Rabbit's Diary.

Books about Beatrix and antique story books of hers,
still there is many books of hers which i should search.

a book i bought from Hilltop souvenir shop.
Someday i will visit Hilltop again and walk another paths where she has been walking in the Lakes.

i love this landscape!
